As part of our commitment to providing the most effective and feature-rich tools for online learning, we are decommissioning Collaborate and transitioning to Class for Zoom for synchronous online activities. This move leverages Zoom’s robust platform, enhanced with “Class” features specifically designed to replicate and improve the in-person classroom experience.

Why Class for Zoom?
Class for Zoom offers a comprehensive suite of tools that go beyond standard video conferencing, enabling more engaging and interactive virtual lessons. Key features include:
- Enhanced Classroom Management: Tools for managing student participation, setting up virtual seating charts, and controlling the classroom environment.
- Interactive Learning: Features like advanced polling and virtual whiteboards to foster collaboration and active learning.
- Advanced Breakout Groups: Enhanced functionalities that allow instructors to monitor multiple discussions through live transcripts of breakout groups.
- Proctor View: Tools designed to help instructorsmonitor students’ cameras and screens during assessments.
- Engagement Tracking: Includes engagement trackers and dashboards that break down the engagement of instructors and students.
- Seamless Integration: Continue to access your synchronous sessions directly through Blackboard.
Requesting a Zoom Pro License
To take full advantage of Class for Zoom, faculty will need a valid UAMS Zoom License. Licenses are prioritized for teaching faculty who use Zoom to conduct class sessions.
- To request your Zoom Pro License:
- Access the Request a Zoom License form.
- Log in with your university credentials.
- Submit the Zoom License Request. Licenses are typically processed within 1-2 business days.
