About APPQMR

The Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) workshop is Quality Matters’ flagship professional development event. It provides a foundational understanding of the QM Rubric and its 8 General Standards, which are essential for designing and evaluating quality online and blended courses.
This training is crucial for anyone involved in online course development, teaching, or quality assurance. It will equip you with the knowledge and skills to improve the quality of your online courses, ultimately enhancing student learning experiences.

Summer 2026 Training Sessions
We are excited to offer two APPQMR training cohorts this summer. These sessions will be delivered synchronously via Class for Zoom to accommodate various schedules.
Important Certification Requirements:
- There is no cost for these workshops.
- Participants must attend all four sessions of their chosen cohort to receive the APPQMR certification.

How to Register
To register for an APPQMR training session, you must first create a free MyQM account. This account will allow you to access all Quality Matters resources, including workshop registrations.
Step 1: Create Your MyQM Account
If you don’t already have one, create a free MyQM account. This is a one-time step.
Step 2: Register for a Training Session
Once your MyQM account is active, log in to the Quality Matters website. From your MyQM dashboard, navigate to the workshop registration page to sign up for your preferred session. When registering, please follow these UAMS-specific instructions:
- Select “University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences” as your affiliation.
- For the Tuesday cohort, look for Course Code: 060226_INDAPPQMR_2773_Univers-32732
- For the Thursday cohort, look for Course Code: 060426_INDAPPQMR_2773_Univers-32733
Spaces are limited, so we encourage you to register early to secure your spot in the session that best fits your schedule.
Step 3: Pick Up Your QM Rubric Workbook
Once you have registered for your training session, please pick up your Applying the Quality Matters Rubric, 7th Edition workbook prior to the first session of your cohort.
Pickup Deadlines:
- Tuesday cohort participants: Please pick up your workbook by Friday, May 29, 2026.
- Thursday cohort participants: Please pick up your workbook by Monday, June 1, 2026.

Workbooks are located on the bookshelf inside the office and may be picked up at your convenience during business hours.
Finding the Shorey Building:
The easiest landmark is Cafe Java on the first floor of the hospital. From Cafe Java, look directly across to the open lobby with elevators. Take the elevators to the 8th floor. When you exit the elevators, turn to your right and look for the main sign for the Educational Development department suite. Office S8/13 is located within the suite and will be clearly marked.
Off-Campus or Regional Faculty:
If you are located off-site from the Little Rock campus and need your QM rubric workbook mailed to you, please contact Dr. Scott Wright as soon as possible after registering so we can arrange shipping in time for the first session.
