Hello, I’m Zac with the Office of Educational Development and today we’re going to be talking about three cybersecurity tips that could keep you and your students safe. Let’s get started!
Tip One: Keep Your Software Up-To-Date
We’ve all been there before: you’re working on a huge project and then you get a notification that you need to update and restart your computer. Nobody will blame you for coming to a stopping point before you start these updates, but make sure you do them as soon as you’re able.
Tip Two: Protect Your Online Classrooms
2020’s Zoom Bombing trend taught us that virtual classrooms are not always as safe as we would like them to be. That’s why it’s important to use Blackboard Collaborate, the only virtual conferencing software supported by UAMS’s Office of Educational Development. Blackboard Collaborate allows you to share the session only with students in your course, eliminating the possibility of outside interference.

Tip Three: Don’t Click Suspicious Links
Phishing scams have been around since the 90s, but they’re getting smarter and smarter as time goes on. Those foreign princes asking for money have been replaced by fake landing pages that look like your favorite websites. In these situations, it’s important to check the sender. Their email will usually let you know that it’s not official. When you identify these emails, make sure you report them to Outlook as phishing.
