Introduction: The Necessity of Recharging for Academic Excellence
Faculty understand the energy needed to deliver high-quality instruction, but the physical, emotional and mental drain from a class may take more than we think! The end of the academic year is a good time to recharge and refresh for teaching.
Exploring Strategies for Faculty Rejuvenation and Development
You might choose a new textbook, work out a new group project, or go to a conference or workshop centered on teaching and learning. Getting new ideas and interacting with individuals outside your discipline adds to the recharging. All faculty, no matter the discipline or institution, face the same challenges you do, and it’s good to speak with folks who “get” your concerns and might offer solutions.
Conclusion: Embracing Diverse Avenues for Continued Growth
If you can’t make an in-person event, look for online learning opportunities or explore a different, discipline-based area of interest. Your enthusiasm on that topic will be apparent and motivating to your students.
