The beginning of the semester is a very busy time for all UAMS faculty. It takes a lot of commitment to set up a course for the new term. One pain point we’ve noticed is that it takes a lot of time to change the multitude of due and availability dates within a Blackboard course.
Why does changing dates take time?
Many faculty navigate throughout their course to change these dates one at a time. This means that large courses with a lot of content and assessments will require more time and steps to input the new dates. However, there is an easier and faster way to manage these dates. This can be done through Blackboard’s Date Management tool.
How does the Date Management tool help?
Date Management enables faculty to change all of their due and availability dates from one page. This saves faculty from the hassle and time of navigating to each content and assessment item one at a time.
Date Management works by scanning your course for anything with a due or availability date tied to it. When you activate the tool it will present you with three options for managing dates.
Use Course Start Date (All content and tool dates adjust by the number of days the dates occur after the course start date.)
Adjust by Number of Days (All content and tools dates adjust from the original date set by the number of days entered.)
List All Dates for Review (Allows you to view all assignment and content dates on one page for review and change.)
Once you select your preferred option you can shift all the dates from one page.
How can you use it today?
You can access attendance by navigating to Control Panel > Course Tools > Date Management
