Collaborate Ultra Offers New Interactive Tools

Collaborate Ultra is a web conferencing tool that is widely used across the UAMS campus for lecture capture, virtual office hours, meetings, and much more. Collaborate now offers several new features that can be used to make sessions more interactive.

Use custom polling to interact with participants.

Polls are a feature that allows participants to provide real-time feedback to a presenter during the session. An overview of poll responses is available immediately and includes a respondent count, how each attended responded, and who has not responded. The responses can be shared with participants.

To create a poll:

  • Open the purple Collaborate panel on the bottom right side of the screen.
  • Select “Share content”.
  • Select “Polling”.
  • Select “Multiple Choice” or “Yes/No Choices”.
  • Optionally, type the poll question or leave it blank. Poll questions have a 110-character limit.
  • If using Multiple Choice, provide up to five answer choices. Type the answer choices or leave them blank.

Watch the video below for more information on the polling feature.

Breakout Groups encourage small group interaction.

Want to facilitate peer-to-peer collaboration in your session? Breakout Groups allow participants to be broken into small groups for activities such as discussion, brainstorming, or problem-solving. Breakout rooms are separate from the main session room, have their own private audio, video, whiteboard, application sharing, and chat.

As the moderator of the session, you can move between groups to monitor group activity. Within groups, each participant has presenter privileges and has the ability to share content with the rest of the group.

To start a breakout group:

  • Open the purple Collaborate panel on the bottom right side of the screen.
  • Select “Breakout Groups”.
  • Assign groups. Select “Randomly assign” or “Custom assignment”.
  • Select Start.

See how Breakout Groups can be used within a session:
