Associate-Level Membership

Eligibility

To qualify for this level, members must:

• Have an interest in the education process.
• Request membership.

Benefits of Associate-Level Membership

Members at this level:

• Are eligible to apply for UAMS’ Teaching Scholars program
• Are eligible to apply for Educators Academy grants (in development)
• May attend teaching workshops

and can receive individual help to:

• Write a teaching philosophy statement.
• Develop an educator portfolio.
• Document scholarly teaching.

Expectations at the Associate Level

If an Associate member of the Academy is interested in advancing to the Fellow or Education Scholar level, he or she is expected to:

• Complete the UAMS’ online course “Teaching Skills,” or comparable experience.
• Complete at least seven workshops in the UAMS Education Curriculum
• Develop a teaching philosophy statement.
• Develop an educator portfolio.
• Seek and obtain peer feedback on teaching and teaching materials.
• Document scholarly teaching.
