Education Scholar-Level Membership
Benefits of Education-Scholar Membership
Members at this level receive:
- Eligibility to apply for Educators Academy grants (in development).
- Recognition in promotion and tenure applications.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for membership at this level, applicants must:
- Be a UAMS employee ≥ 2 years.
- Provide evidence of continuous, educational activities (e.g., educational research, education administration, curriculum development).
- Provide evidence of disseminated educational scholarship (minimum of at least one, off-campus, education-related, peer-reviewed publication or presentation).
- Provide evidence of serving as a peer teaching reviewer and/or teaching materials reviewer.
Expectations
At this level, members are expected to:
- Contribute at least five hours annually to the Educators Academy through serving as a peer teaching reviewer and/or teaching coach, presenting on education topics to other faculty, and/or conducting Educators Academy committee work.
- Continue documenting scholarly teaching.
- Maintain a record of scholarly publications and dissemination.
- Earn or have earned recognition at the national / international level as an education scholar.
Required for Application
Include the following items in your application packet. Keep a copy of your packet for your records.
- Completed membership application and agreement
- Curriculum vitae
- Support letter from department or division chair
- Teaching philosophy statement
- Evidence of scholarly teaching
- Evidence of educational scholarship (minimum of at least one, off-campus, education-related, peer-reviewed publication or presentation)
- Evidence of service as teaching peer reviewer / coach
